A Challenge to Modern Christianity in the United States - Calling for a Return to the Authentic Gospel of Jesus Christ
As our nation heads into a significant election, we challenge listeners to reconsider where they place their faith. The discourse on political leaders as saviors is contrasted with the unwavering strength found in the message of Christ crucified. Join us as we examine the historical impact of the gospel of Jesus Christ, celebrating the early church's resilience and calling for a revival of its core teachings to confront the challenges of our times.
Discover the transformative power of the gospel of Jesus Christ and how it can revolutionize your life and society. This episode promises to reveal the profound message that rocked the first-century Church drawing from the scriptures of Romans, John, 1 Corinthians, and Revelation. You'll learn why Jesus's death, burial, and resurrection are vital for the redemption of man and the healing of a nation and how preaching the cross should be rooted in the Spirit's power, not human wisdom.
We also address the alarming trend of spiritual complacency in modern Christianity in the United States, urging a return to the authentic gospel of Jesus Christ that can truly change lives. Reflecting on insights from the scriptures and personal experiences from the charismatic movement of the 1970s, we discuss the church's responsibility to preach the authentic Gospel of Jesus Christ. Explore the urgent need for genuine spiritual transformation amidst a world focused on materialistic pursuits.

Thank you for tuning in and listening to the Voice of Righteousness broadcast. I want to begin today by saying that I have not rehearsed this message and I don't even have a script or notes. I'm going to be just speaking from my heart, exactly as it comes to me, but this is a message that has been burning in my heart for many, many weeks, months, if not more than a year. Many scriptures will come to my heart as I bring this message, because these are scriptures that I have been pouring over for more than a year. And I must say again, this is what is written in Jeremiah, chapter 20, verse 9,. But his word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones. I was weary of holding it back and I could not. Some may ask why do I use the moniker preacher of righteousness and at the same time named this the voice of righteousness broadcast? Well, it's a very simple response. It seemed good in my spirit after much prayer, because it is written in Romans 1.16.17.18. The righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith. As it is written, the just shall live by faith, for the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness. The righteousness of God is connected to the gospel of Christ, and I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation. Then we look at Romans, chapter 10, verse 6 through 10. But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way Do not say in your heart who will ascend into heaven, that is, to bring Christ down from above, or who will descend into the abyss, that is to bring Christ up from the dead. But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart. That is the word of faith which we preach that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Speaker 1:There's a lot of depth to these biblical passages and I have to be very careful that I stay on point because it's going to be so easy to wander off and get into some of the details of what do these mean? But this point needs to be made Jesus already came down to earth, as it is written in John 1, verse 14,. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten, of the Father, full of grace and truth. And he was crucified, dying a sinner's death, buried in a grave rose three days after death, as the resurrected Lord of glory, the finished work of Christ. We cannot fail to grasp the finished work of Christ. If we do, we're basically telling God, the Father, that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus was insufficient to accomplish the work of redeeming mankind from death.
Speaker 1:How important is this message? It is so important that the Apostle Paul, by unction and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, in 1 Corinthians 15, verses 1-4, wrote the following chapter 15, verse 1 through 4, wrote the following Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preach to you, which also you received and in which you stand, but which also you are saved if you hold fast that word which I preach to you, unless you believed in vain. For I deliver to you first of all that which I also received that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, and that he was buried and that he rose again the third day, according to the scriptures. Now listen clearly. It says here you received and in which you stand, of which also you are saved if you hold fast that word which I preach to you. You are saved if you hold fast that word which I preach to you. The gospel is the message for the church and for the unbeliever. It is the power of God unto salvation. For the unbeliever is how they're saved. For the saved, it's how they stand. We stand in the power of the gospel.
Speaker 1:Again, the Apostle Paul, through the unction and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, in 1 Corinthians 1, verse 18, through the second chapter about verse 4, states the following For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to those who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world, through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request the sign and Greeks seek after wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness. But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, christ the power of and the wisdom of God, because the foolishness of God is wiser than man and the weakness of God is stronger than man.
Speaker 1:And jumping over to verse 1 of chapter 2, and I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God, for I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear and in much trembling, and my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. The message of the cross is the message that pricked man's heart. It's the message that turned the world upside down in the first century, when the apostles went forth preaching boldly the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Notice what Paul wrote.
Speaker 1:I have to repeat this the cross of Christ can be made of no effect if it's not preached or if it's preached with wisdom of words of man. I'm trying to be very careful how I present this, because the gravity of this message is extreme. The gospel of Jesus Christ can be made of no effect if it's not properly preached. And in fact, if you look at what's going on in the modern day church of the Lord Jesus Christ in the United States of America, you will see that there is a lack of preaching the true gospel of Jesus Christ, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, and it's a failure of preaching the gospel properly that has rendered a weak church that is not having an impact on society and wickedness is running rampant.
Speaker 1:Jump now to 2 Corinthians 4, verses 3-6. But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the God of this age has blinded, who do not believe lest the light of the gospel, of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ, jesus, the Lord, and ourselves, your bondservants, for Jesus' sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, those who are blinded and have not seen the light of the gospel, will be blinded and not see the light of the gospel until it is properly preached unto them. We cannot sit here and condemn the wicked who have not heard the truth of the gospel. In Romans 10, verses 14 forward, it says how then shall they call on him whom they have not believed? In Romans 10, verses 14 forward, it says In prior broadcast I have mentioned one of the perils that we're facing today is the weaponization of government power.
Speaker 1:But here's the most significant peril of the day, a serious problem in the United States of America and within the church in the United States of America. It is a lack of the preaching of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. We cannot continue to condemn the wicked without truly preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. We cannot continue to condemn the wicked without truly preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ in the power of God, through the power of God, by the Spirit of the living God. We cannot continue to condemn the wicked. We cannot continue to condemn President Biden, vice President Harris, chuck Schumer, nancy Pelosi and every other Democrat who certainly are acting in wicked ways. Brings the blinders off of the wicked so they can see the light and turn to the light.
Speaker 1:I am actually a product of the charismatic movement of the early 1970s. My father in the early 1970s got connected with a Pentecostal church and I was first introduced to the gospel of Jesus Christ at Morris Cirillo's event in the city of Miami, miami Auditorium in the early 1970s, where I saw the miracle power of God and it impacted my life as a small child and I grew up in that charismatic move and during those years, during all those, I saw and I heard many miracles. I saw the power of God at work, the gospel being preached, lives being changed, lives being transformed, impacting society. Fast forward into the 1980s, the 1990s, 2000, 2010s and now 2020s 90s, 2000, 2010s, now 2020s I have seen literally a regression, a going backward, where we have become basically too complacent. We have forgotten the purpose of our faith. There was a great move of God in the 80s and 90s, the teaching of the Word of God, which certainly impacted Christendom and in some ways it did did some damage, in my opinion, but, based on what I have observed from a scriptural perspective, we have become complacent to the point that we have turned inward to look at our own lives, to enrich ourselves, to better ourselves. You know it's like let's take the promises of God so that we can be healed, we can be whole, we can be rich, we can be well, and there's truth to that. But the reality is that if you look at the biblical metrics of what Jesus calls rich and what Jesus calls poor, you will find something that is very startling.
Speaker 1:When Jesus appeared to John, the Apostle in Revelation, and he commands him to write the messages to the seven churches, listen to what he says to the angel of the church in Smyrna. These things says the first and the last who was dead and came to life. This is in Revelation 2, verse 8 forward I know your works, tribulation and poverty, but you are rich. I know your works, tribulation and poverty, but you are rich. I know your works, tribulation and poverty, but you are rich. He calls them rich. Then, in chapter 3, speaking to the church in Sardis, jesus says I know your works, that you have a name, that you are alive, but you are dead. To the church of the loudest ends, I know your works and that you're neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot. I will vomit you out of my mouth Because you say I am rich, have become wealthy, have need of nothing, and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. It's clear.
Speaker 1:The message from Jesus is the church needs to consider its ways. The metrics that we must look at are the scriptures, what Jesus has to say, not man-made metrics, man-made machinations. Not man-made metrics, man-made machinations, because the church, without the power of God, becomes a lifeless entity, unable to change the world, to affect a nation. If there is a power deficiency in the church, there is a gospel deficiency in the church and I say very strongly that we are missing the power of God because we have failed to fully recognize the power of the gospel, the death, burial, resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. And without the preaching of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, we will never see the power of God that is necessary to change a nation, never see the power of God that is necessary to change a nation. Here's a couple things to consider. Are we rightly seeing Jesus, and how does Jesus want to be seen? He tells us in the scriptures no particular order.
Speaker 1:Let's look at this first verse in it's Revelation, chapter 1, verse 18. This is what Jesus says. I am he who lives and was dead. And behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of death. Jesus, immediately, when he revealed himself as the risen Christ to John the Apostle in the island of Patmos, points to his passion, his death, burial and resurrection. I am he who was dead and am alive now.
Speaker 1:Then we can see one of the first instances of Jesus appearing to his disciples after the resurrection Luke, chapter 24, the road to Emmaus. When he ran into these two men, he confronted them and told them O foolish ones and slow of heart, to believe in all that the prophets have spoken, ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into his glory? And, beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded to them in all the scriptures, the things concerning himself. Then they drew near to the village where they were going and he indicated that he would have gone further, but they constrained him, saying Abide with us, for it is toward evening and the day is far spent, and he went in to stay with them.
Speaker 1:Now it came to pass, as he sat at the table with them, that he took bread, blessed and broke it and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they knew him and he vanished from their sight. And they said to one another Did not our heart burn within us? While he talked with us on the road and while he opened the scriptures to us, jesus pointed to his passion and he broke bread and blessed it, and that reminds us of his instructions about breaking bread and blessing it in remembrance of his broken body and his shed blood. For us, we have got to get back to rightly seeing Jesus, to see him how he wants to be seen, as the Father describes him. In fact, if you look at the entire book of Revelation, jesus is described as the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the earth.
Speaker 1:This is a crucial message for the hour, because if you look at Revelation, chapter 2, to the angel of the church of Ephesus, write these things, says he who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands. I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil, and you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars, and you have persevered and have patience and have labored for my name's sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless, I have this against you that you have left your first love. Remember, therefore, from where you have fallen. Repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place unless you repent.
Speaker 1:In many ways, this describes the church in America, the church at this age, at this time, in this instance. If you look at the history of the church in the United States of America, never in the history of the United States of America have you ever had so much preaching, so much teaching of the Word of God in every available medium. We've got radio, we've got TV, we've got internet, youtube, rumble, we've got satellite radio, we've got churches left and right, we've got every kind of available medium where there is just an incredible amount of some type of Word of God being preached and taught. Yet the reality is we have forgotten our first love. He loved us first. Because he loved us first, we loved Him, and we're commanded to return to that first love. What is that first love Is? We heard about his death, his passion, his burial and his resurrection, the power of the gospel, and it was that power of the gospel that turned us to him, turned our hearts to him To love him. And it's only through that revelation of the power of the gospel, his death, burial and resurrection, that men and women can be saved. And this is the only answer to save this nation at this time.
Speaker 1:We must ask ourselves what are we preaching, what are we teaching? Are we honestly impacting society? Are we causing change for righteousness? As Paul wrote and my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. Therefore, we must ask ourselves what are we doing on any given Sunday or any given church service? Are we truly preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, or are we just getting together to have a kumbaya session? What is the purpose of getting together? I mean, the scriptures are very clear of what exactly a church meeting should look like. Search the scriptures. They tell you what he likes, what he doesn't like, what he expects, what he doesn't expect. Here are a couple things to consider. Jesus is the one who died on the cross, not the clock. What's going to impress the visitor more? A miracle or a muffin or, for that matter, a little gift bag or the gifts of the Spirit that bring forth healing, salvation, deliverance and miracles?
Speaker 1:We're a little bit over a week away from a major election here in the United States of America, where you've got former President Trump as the leading candidate, who at the moment is leading in the polls, and on the other end Vice President Harris, and, frankly, neither of these two candidates are the savior of America. On one end we've got one group called Pastors for Trump and on the other end we've got another group called Evangelicals for Harris. Both are wrong. Trump is not the savior of America. Harris is not the savior of America. Harris is not the destroyer of America. Trump is not again the deliver savior of America. Harris is not the destroyer of America. Trump is not again the deliverer of America. Jesus is the deliverer of any nation, and any nation that calls out on his name can be delivered. And the only way people can call out on the name of Jesus is if Jesus is rightfully preached and delivered unto them. We cannot ram righteousness to the wicked. We can only preach the light to the wicked. The wicked, therefore, must hear the reality and the truth of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, if we're ever going to turn them around to the light.
Speaker 1:Do you want to know what God the Father has to say about these issues and these things and these matters? I'm going to give you a very clear scripture. It can't be any clearer than this one Matthew, chapter 17, verse 5. This is when Jesus was transfigured and he appeared with Moses and Elijah. This is what the father said. A voice came out of the cloud saying this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear him, then we can go to Hebrews, chapter 1, and look at what God the father speaks. God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds. The Father says look to Jesus, look to Jesus, hear what he has to say. And what does Jesus have to say? Look to his passion, look to his death, burial and resurrection, to the finished work of Christ. And he commands us to preach this gospel to the ends of the world Mark 16, 15. Jesus said Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. The gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is the message for the United States of America and this message must be preached, and the church has to step it up and begin to preach the gospel with the intensity, the power and might of the Spirit of the living God.
Speaker 1:Yes, political activism is important, but it does not replace the gospel and can never replace the gospel, and without the gospel it will be ineffective. All the political activism will eventually become divisive and destructive and in the end result could very well be the last thing that we need to see. As long as we put our faith in a man or a party to save this nation, we are setting ourselves up for failure. We could very well see a repeat again in 2024 what we saw in 2020. In 2020, a repeat again in 2024 what we saw in 2020. In 2020, it seems as though many in the church had their faith in a party and a political candidate and consequently, undoubtedly the hand of the Lord stopped it.
Speaker 1:Look at what it says in Daniel 2.20.21. Daniel answered and said Blessed be the name of God forever and ever. For wisdom and might are His. Daniel answered and said have you stopped and considered what it was like for the church world in the first age, immediately after the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ? It was the Roman Empire, very wicked, wicked rulers of unimaginable wickedness that ruled and reigned during that church age. Yet it did not stop the church of the Lord Jesus Christ from having an impact because they preached Jesus. They constantly went about preaching Jesus, preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ that pricks man's heart and change men and women, as it was written of them, acts 17.6,. These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.
Speaker 1:And I'll close by repeating 1 Corinthians 2, verses 1 and 2. And that's the point right there. We have got to get back to preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and Him crucified. And that's the point right there. We have got to get back to preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. That is the answer to all the problems in this country. And if the church fails to do its duty to preach the gospel, persecution will come. And persecution will cause those who stand in the power of the gospel to proclaim the gospel in power and demonstrations of the Spirit of the living God.
